Classroom Champions

Classroom Champions is a not-for-profit, in-classroom mentorship program that partners world-class athletes—including Olympians and Paralympians—with teachers in underserved communities to support students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Classroom Champions was founded in 2009 by Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Mesler and his sister Dr. Leigh Parise. The program now reaches more than 25,000 students in 1000 classrooms across 32 U.S. states, 8 Canadian provinces, St. Lucia, Grenada, Dominica and Germany.

In 2017, the upcoming Pyeongchang Olympics and Paralympics offered a unique, timely opportunity to increase awareness of Classroom Champions and engage with the public, athletes, children, teachers, school districts, potential partners and supporters. To do this, we created and executed the How Better Gets Better and Better campaign. The integrated, multi-channel campaign included a new website, campaign videos, digital content, social media promotion and a dedicated public relations strategy.

How Better Gets Better and Better successfully increased awareness of Classroom Champions and effectively demonstrated how the program supports, develops and positively impacts students, families, teachers, athlete mentors and, ultimately, entire communities.
